There’s an App for That!
Smart phone applications make it easier to keep up with your child’s grades, meals, bus transportation and safety.
School-to-Home Communication Via ParentSquare
2022-2023 | CLASS ACT 43
STUDENT CANVAS
This app allows
your student to access
CCSD’s online Learning
Management System
(LMS), called Canvas.
Students will access
assignments, submit
work, and view their
grades within Canvas.
PARENT CANVAS
This app allows parents
to set up an account
to view the academic
progress of each child
they have enrolled in
CCSD schools. Grades
are posted here, and
Canvas also provides
messaging capability
with teachers.
VECTOR ALERTS
This app, formerly
SafeSchools, can be
used by parents and students
alike and allows
users to report tips to
school district administration
and school police
about concerns, bullying,
threats and other
information.
MEALVIEWER
TO GO
This app and website
offer students and
parents a closer look at
school cafeteria menus.
The system features
photos and nutritional
and allergy information
for every entrée and
side item on the menu.
MY STOP
Parents can track
their child’s school bus
using this app. The
GPS-based system
shows parents the location
of their child’s bus
on a map of its route for
15 minutes prior to its
scheduled arrival at the
bus stop.
Detailed parent instructions for setting up and accessing a Canvas account can be
found on our website at

CCSD began using the
ParentSquare messaging
system last year for email
communication to parents
from the school, primarily
from the Principal, for
messages such as newsletters,
updates and reminders,
to all parents, as well
as to send weekly progress
reports for attendance and
grades. After piloting the
use for teachers at select
schools, CCSD will expand
the ability of teachers to
utilize ParentSquare
messaging in addition or in
lieu of messages from the
Canvas learning management
system. Please note
that ParentSquare sends
“do not reply” emails. If
you have a question after
reading a ParentSquare
message, please call your
child’s school or email the
Principal or appropriate
staff member; email addresses
for all staff members
are posted on each
school’s website.
In addition to receiving
ParentSquare messages
from your child’s school by
email, ParentSquare also
offers a free app that you
can download from your
mobile phone’s app store.
The icon is a grey square
with a colored dot at each
corner. The app allows you
to change your notification
preferences to email, text
and/or app messages; add
additional contact information;
and change language
preferences. It also allows
you to decide if you want
these messages Instantly,
as soon as they are sent, or
if you prefer the Digest
feature, which allows you
to receive all messages
together later in the day.
Please be advised that if
you turn off receiving
messages through ParentSquare,
you will not
receive timely important
messages from your child’s
school.
If you experience any
technical difficulties using
ParentSquare, please email
parentsquare@cherokee.
incidentiq.com.
CCSD will continue to
use the School Messenger
system for emergency
notifications for schools
and messages for the
school district as a whole.
