Cherokee County Farm Bureau sponsors
agriculture projects in Cherokee County Schools
2022-2023 | CLASS ACT 13
sauce, chicken Caesar
wrap, chicken Caesar
salad, and seasoned
meatball and rice bowls.
Additionally, high school
menus will expand to
include sweet Thai chili
boneless wings, margherita
pizza, and buffalo
chicken pizza.
CCSD also has received
numerous accolades for its
Farm to School initiative
and collaboration with
community partners
including the Cherokee
County Farm Bureau, and
the program will continue
to grow this year. Farm to
School efforts in CCSD
include using locally and
Georgia-grown fresh
ingredients (some of which
are harvested from school
gardens); and teaching
students about where their
food comes from and
making healthy choices.
The School Nutrition
program offers a Recipe of
the Month feature on its
website and in the CCSD
Connections parent
e-newsletter to share some
of its many homemade
recipes with families.
Much more information is
on CCSD’s School Nutrition
webpage, and videos on
CCSD’s YouTube channel
highlight the program
including “Welcome to
Your School Cafeteria,”
which gives students and
parents a better understanding
of how our cafeterias
work and the choices
offered.
School Lunch Hero Day is celebrated each May, and students look
forward to seeing guest servers in their lunch line dressed in capes
and super hero costumes. Above, Superintendent Dr. Brian Hightower
works the line at Clark Creek ES STEM Academy, handing
out strawberries to the kids.
