Dog Days
The
Dogs are a constant in my
world. I wake up and come home
to three wonderful German Shepherds
each day. ere’s even a dog
at our oce. She’s a poodle with
painted nails, but she can’t help it.
Molly the poodle was actually
the inspiration for “Dogs in Business”
that we created four years
ago. We began noticing
how many
other business
and shop owners
around the lake
bring their dogs
to work with them
each day and we
wanted to introduce
these furry
faces to our readers.
As any dog-lover
understands, it’s
always a bonus to
walk into an oce
or business and
be greeted by a wag and a smile.
On page 58, meet a few of these
dedicated workers in our “Dogs in
Business” special section.
Dogs make for the best
ice-breakers. You’d be hardpressed
to nd someone out and
about with a dog who wasn’t
excited to talk about their best
friend. Connections are easily
made among pet-lovers and there
is perhaps no better networking
spot than a dog park.
But for a group of newcomers
of oDf Suamymesr Summer to Madison, they’ve created a
fresh way to make those connections.
e Mists Supper Club
oers a series of specialty events
to bring people together over a
table lled with locally-sourced
food and beverages. eir recent
Taste of the South event was a
breakout success that drew fellow
newcomers
together to break
bread and make
friends. Meet the
Mists on page 36.
We met another
group who
have had no trouble
nding their
“tribe” – they just
look for a bright,
shiny Airstream.
is close-knit
club of travelers
recently made a
stop in Greensboro
while staying
at the nearby A.H. Stephens State
Park. ey took in the sights, sat
down for a drink at Oconee Brewing
Co., and shared their love of
caravanning with likeminded Airstream
owners. See their adventures
on page 70.
We hope this issue inspires you
to grab a leash or gas up the truck
to explore new places and make
new connections. Just ask people
about their dog. It works every
time.
Enjoy!
