Connecting Cumberland to a Vibrant and Diverse Community
2021 was an exciting and momentous year for the Cumberland
Community Improvement District (CID). As Atlanta’s 5th largest
employment center and Cobb County’s premier business district,
Cumberland has a $20 billion annual economic impact on
Georgia’s economy. This growth, along with new developments
and dynamic entertainment venues, brings forth the challenge
for innovative transportation alternatives. The Cumberland
CID and its partners are taking the initiative to invest in these
mobility solutions with exciting projects like the Cumberland
Sweep. The Sweep will be a three-mile path, which will be Cobb’s
version of the Atlanta Beltline, with dedicated lanes for biking,
walking, and an autonomous shuttle system. The Sweep will
connect to some of the region’s incredible assets like Truist Park,
The Battery Atlanta, Cumberland Mall, Cobb Galleria Centre,
Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, the Chattahoochee River
National Recreation Area (CRNRA), and more. To learn more, go to

In October of last year, the Akers Mill Ramp Groundbreaking
was a marquee achievement for the Cumberland CID. The Ramp
will be a new access point for the successful I-75 Northwest
Express Lanes System at Akers Mill Road. Construction is
underway, and the new ramp is slated to be complete by the
summer of 2023. The 24-foot-wide reversible ramp will improve
regional mobility and will continue to provide travel time savings.
In partnership with the National Park Service, the Cumberland
CID is working to rehabilitate the Paces Mill/Palisades Unit of
the CRNRA. Built in the 1970s, the Unit is a popular destination
for recreational boating, fishing, picnicking, biking, and
walking activities. The rehabilitation project will be an $11.5
million makeover, giving the Unit a more national park-like
visitor experience. The Paces Mill/Palisades Unit connects to
38 miles of multi-use trails in the region. To learn more go to

The Cumberland CID’s 34-year success is possible because
of the commitment of more than 190 commercial property
owners in the district along with our partners at the local,
state, and federal levels. Cumberland continues to evolve
from a nine-to-five business center into a bustling community
and entertainment district. This is true more than ever with
the entertainment, shopping, trails, natural resources, cultural
amenities, and the 2021 World Champions, the Atlanta Braves.
This is where a national park meets a national pastime.
This is Cumberland.
BE A PART OF SOMETHING BIG.
