The YWCA is now accepting award nominations for the annual YWCA
Women of Achievement Luncheon Awards, which honors the achievements
of outstanding women throughout the Sauk Valley area. The luncheon
returns to Dixon, on Thursday, April 11, 2019, from noon to 1:30
p.m. at the Elks Club. Invitations and registration materials will be
made available at a later date.
The YWCA is seeking nominations for the following awards:
• CRETE DILLON BOWMAN AWARD for women with outstanding voluntary
or career leadership in efforts to build and strengthen the community.
• L. L. ELY AWARD honoring women who have shown excellence, professionalism,
and accomplishment as administrative professionals/assistants.
• JANE REID KEEFER AWARD recognizing women’s career accomplishments
in medical, legal, social service, teaching, and non-profit fields.
• LOUISE BITTORF SULLIVAN AWARD honoring women who are an
inspiration to a broad range of people around them.
• PEARL WOODS AWARD recognizing women whose career accomplishments
are focused in industry and private business.
• YOUNG WOMAN OF TOMORROW for outstanding accomplishment
and leadership potential for young women ages 15-22.
• SPIRIT OF ACHIEVEMENT is a posthumous award for women not honored
during their lifetime.
Award nominations are due at the YWCA, 412 First Avenue, Sterling, IL,
by 4 PM on March 1, 2019. Nomination forms and additional details can
be obtained by contacting the YWCA at 815.625.0333.
All proceeds from the luncheon support YWCA’s programs that impact
thousands of lives across Lee and Whiteside Counties each year. YWCA
services include domestic violence and sexual assault assistance, prevention
of bullying and abuse, girls’ programs, career services, cultural
diversity work, immigrant outreach and more. The YWCA also receives
support from the United Ways of Whiteside and Lee Counties.
