“They were incredibly gracious and they
(agreed to work with me) so that was a huge
help,” she said.
Webb ended up doing some personal
shopping for customers and promoted
products on social media to stay afloat.
“When people started getting out again
and shopping, they were so happy to be out,”
Webb said. “It was fun talking to people and
hearing how they coped.”
A year and a half after the pandemic
started, Webb feels like she’s seen a pick-up
in traffic and an uptick in business.
The boutique has had some issues with
supplies and shipping costs, but Webb
has been buying bigger shipments of
merchandise at a time to keep her most
popular products in stock.
When it comes to holiday shopping, Webb
advises customers to buy a product when
they see it instead of waiting on it because
the inventory might be low.
Capri Blue Volcano candles are one of
Webb’s most popular items, as well as Rustic
House candles.
As part of an ongoing fundraiser, $10 from
every purchase of a Rustic House candle
goes towards the William S. Davies Shelter, a
homeless shelter right here in Rome.
“A lot of times people come in asking for
donations, I like to try and support them
if I can,” she said. “I’m wanting to work
with more community organizations moving
forward.”
Many of the vendors Webb uses donate
part of their profits to charities, such as
cancer research. One vendor employs women
in addiction recovery and supports survivors
of sex trafficking. The store also carries
artwork and books created by local artists
and authors.
