Six years of “Doing Good” By Olivia Morley
What started as a coffee shop for
people of faith to gather in a safe space
has turned into a boutique dedicated to
supporting socially responsible products
and local vendors.
About six years ago, Renee Webb started
Do Good boutique with friend and fellow
Rome First United Methodist Church
member Allison Watters.
“Our church at the time wanted to open
up a coffee shop meeting place as a
different kind of introduction to the church
and Christianity,” Webb said. “Allison was
a stay-at-home mom at the time and I was
working at another business.”
After leaving her previous job, she and
Watters decided to start their business
together.
“Our church decided the coffee shop
idea wasn’t going to work at the time so
our pastor offered up a house next to Good
Neighbor Ministries for us to use,” she said.
