Eat, Drink,
and Be Merry
this holiday season By Amy Fischer
Crisp fall air, football Saturdays, and marshmallows
roasting at the fire pit.
It’s the beginning of the holiday season. Christmas lists are
already underway for those “early bird” shoppers. In addition
to the standard fare that will inevitably show up on your
holiday table--those traditional, tried and true dishes that
friends and family always look forward to this time of year —
get creative and include some unique, taste-tempting recipes.
For the impromptu dinner parties, the family get-togethers, or
those seasonal events, the important thing is to serve festive,
flavorful foods that are sure to please.
Pumpkin Spice White Hot Chocolate
- 6 cups 2% or skim milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 (15 oz.) can pure pumpkin puree
(not pie filling)
- 1 TBSP. pumpkin pie spice
- 4 oz. bar of white chocolate (like
Lindt)
- 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened
condensed milk
- ¼-½ tsp. pure vanilla extract
In a crock-pot, whisk together the
milk, heavy cream, pumpkin puree, and
pumpkin pie spice. Chop up the white
chocolate bar; stir in the chocolate pieces,
sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla
extract. Whisk until well incorporated.
Heat on low and cook for 3 hours;
remove lid once every hour to stir. Serve
hot with mini marshmallows, whipped
cream, and cinnamon. Absolutely amazing!
