“I’ve now done 27 out of 63 of the
current list of national parks. Three of
these five made it into my top 10 that I’ve
visited: Arches, Capitol Reef, and Zion.

FROM THE PUBLISHER
The Rome and entire Northwest Georgia area we love to
call home is becoming a wedding destination community.
Wedding planners, photographers, caterers, restaurants, hotels,
churches, and so many more are working hard to provide the
very best weddings possible for brides and grooms. Several
new venues have been built and older ones have been
remodeled creating a growing and posh environment for
couples across the region.
Our staff has gone the extra mile for readers of this issue of
Rome Life. They have captured much of this relatively new
venture for businesses and individual families preparing for a
very special occasion in their lives.
In this edition of Rome Life, we’re spotlighting the weddings
of 10 local couples. With the help of area photographers, we
tried to capture the uniqueness of each. We appreciate
wedding planners Holly Lynch of The Season Events and Tracy
Hellriegel of Weddings of North Georgia for helping us compile
a list of couples from which to choose.
Also in this issue are tips that local brides and grooms can
follow to guarantee they look and feel their very best when
saying their vows. Need gift ideas for the couples or
bridesmaid or groomsmen? You will find lots of great ideas
from local merchants.
Want a moment of fun and laughter? Be sure to read our
Kids’ Corner. Students from three local schools — North
Heights Elementary, Berry Elementary and Alto Park Elementary
— were asked about love and marriage and their suggestions
will certainly help you understand all you really need to know
you learned very early. Thanks to the classroom teachers that
helped us get these kids’ comments.
Readers will certainly enjoy Berry College professor Sandra
Meek’s photographic journey to the beautiful Central American
country of Belize. We want Rome Life to bring readers a look at
life outside of Rome and invite you to submit your photos of
travels you and your family may take.
Contact Editor Severo Avila if you are travelling within the U.S.
or abroad and plan on capturing images of your journey.
An interesting feature on the new Forum River Center will inform
and impress on you the many opportunities available for special
events. This improved center is becoming a popular downtown
venue and is perfectly located for all types of meetings and
events. After viewing the photos in the feature, plan a visit. We
think you will be surprised at the changes.
Be sure to see who you know on our Social Scene pages and
take a look at the fashion pages featuring three local boutiques
— Spool of Dreams, Elegancia and 9 Salon.
Thanks for reading Rome Life. I hope you enjoy.
Bryce Canyon
Amphiteater area is the
most visited section of
Bryce Canyon National
Park. It contains many
of the most famous
structures in the park.
Bryce Canyon National
Park is known for
crimson-colored
hoodoos, which are
spire-shaped rock
formations. The park’s
main road leads past
the expansive Bryce
Amphitheater, a hoodoofilled
depression lying
below the Rim Trail
hiking path.
