From Bucket to Bale:
Here’s what happens to your recyclables
COLLECT: A refuse worker collects and dumps the contents
of the bucket into the recyclables side of their split scooter.

TRANSFER: The loader returns to the City’s
transfer station at the Service Center where the
recyclables are transferred into a shipping container.
DUMP: The recyclables are dumped into
the designated compartment on the loader.

RECYCLE: Cartons, plastic
bottles & jugs, boxes & paper, cans, glass
bottles & jars are commingled in green
recycling buckets for backyard pick up.
HAUL: The shipping container
is hauled to the Materials Recovery
Facility (MRF) in Twinsburg.
TRANSPORT: Contaminants are transported to the landfill.
COMPACT and SELL: Recyclables are
compacted into bales and sold to buyers who
remanufacture the materials into new products. If
no buyer exists for a specific material, or if the bale
is too contaminated, it may be sent to the landfill.
