Getting Hitched Without Going
Broke - Money Saving Tips for Your
Wedding Reception
by beconrad
If you are getting married and planning the ceremony, you may have
already discovered how quickly the costs can get out of control. It is
easy to spend thousands, or tens of thousands, of dollars on your dream
wedding, but you do not have to break the bank or go into debt to enjoy
the ceremony of your dreams.
If you do not want to start your married life together deep in debt and
struggling to make ends meet, there are plenty of ways to save money
on every aspect of your wedding. If you play your cards right, you can
save money, have a beautiful ceremony and still have money left for a
relaxing honeymoon. Here are some money saving reception tips to get
you started.
• Schedule an off season ceremony. June weddings are beautiful, but so
are March weddings, December weddings and weddings at any other time
of year. Going off season could save you thousands of dollars - trimming
the cost of everything from the catering and the photographer to the
reception hall and the flowers.
• Consider a daytime and/or weekday wedding. Simply skipping the
Saturday night wedding and choosing another day could save you a
fortune on the reception hall rental. Scheduling a daytime or weekday
wedding can also make it easier to get your choice of date.
• Trim the guest list. Do not feel compelled to invite everyone you ever met
to your wedding. Keeping the guest list to your closest friends and family
members can save you a lot of money.
• Make your venue do double duty. Holding the wedding ceremony and
reception in the same place can save you a lot of money - and your guests
a lot of hassle.
• Shop for your own wedding décor. If you have a knack for decorating
and an eye for value, you can save a lot of money by shopping for your
own church and reception hall décor. Check out closeout specials and
shop everywhere from the local department store to specialty party good
suppliers and discount big box retailers. You could save a lot of money and
get some truly unique wedding décor.
• Use larger family style tables instead of smaller round ones. You will need
fewer centerpieces, fewer tablecloths and fewer decorations.
You do not have to spend a fortune to host a wonderful and memorable
wedding. Shopping around, doing things yourself and being flexible with
scheduling can save you a ton of money without sacrificing the beauty
and style of your special day.
