Getting Ready to Go Back to School
“One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by.”
—Jeanette Walls, The Glass Castle
There’s no question that kids love carefree, lazy summer days. But in August, one thing
is clear: back-to-school season is here. Shaker Library is ready to help families move
forward toward to a successful school year.
The best way to prepare for school is to read and it’s not too late to sign up for the
Summer Reading Program, Shaker Reads: A Universe of Stories. The fun and prizes
continue through September 1 and there are no reading rules. All reading counts. Go to
shakerlibrary.org or visit the library to join.
