Lois Cavucci Named
Director of Human Resources
Lois J. Cavucci, who has served as
interim director
of Human
Resources for
the Shaker
School District
since December,
was named
director this
past spring.
Cavucci is a
seasoned human resource management
and leadership professional with
extensive experience in planning and
executing strategic initiatives to hire,
supervise, and evaluate staff members.
Cavucci earned her B.S. in Education,
an M.S. in Educational Administration, and
a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, all
from Youngstown State University.

Stephen M. Wilkins to be Appointed Interim Superintendent
The Shaker Heights Board of Education has announced the selection of Stephen
M. Wilkins as interim superintendent for the term July 1,
2018 through June 30, 2019. Wilkins brings management
experience that includes strengths in human resources,
strategic planning, logistics, project management, and
security services. He most recently served as the assistant
superintendent of Business Operations and Human
Resources, and will return to that role when his service as
interim superintendent concludes.
A retired Colonel in the United States Army, Wilkins
graduated from West Point and served in active duty for
more than 20 years. He earned a White House Presidential Service Badge in addition
to numerous medals and awards for his military service. He also holds a masters
in Public Administration from Harvard University and is fluent in Spanish. More
recently, he earned his doctorate by researching how to measure progress among
English language learners.
David Glasner Named Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction
David Glasner, principal at Shaker Heights Middle School since July 2014, has been
named executive director of Curriculum & Instruction for the
Shaker Heights City School District, effective July 1, 2018.
Glasner will oversee the development of a unified curriculum
that provides continuity of instruction, aligns with state
academic content standards, and leverages the benefits of the
International Baccalaureate Programme for all students in
grades PreK-12.
Glasner holds a B.A. and an M.A. in history from
the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree
in secondary school social studies education from
Teachers College, Columbia University, as well as administrative certification
from the College of Saint Rose. Glasner is pursuing a doctorate at Cleveland State
University, where his research focuses on how tracking students in mathematics
impacts student achievement.
Miata Hunter Named Middle School Principal
Miata E. Hunter has been named Shaker Heights Middle School principal effective
July 1. Hunter, who served as assistant principal at the
Middle School since 2013, is a 1992 graduate of Shaker
Heights High School, a resident of Shaker Heights, and a
Shaker schools parent.
Hunter came to the Middle School in 2004 as a
mathematics instructor after teaching in Minnesota
and Cleveland. She earned her B.S. in Mathematics from
Cleveland State University, where she graduated magna
cum laude. She holds an M.S. in Applied and Computational
Mathematics from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
