Caring for Your Collections
Workshop/Lunch and Learn
Join Executive Director Dr. Ware Petznick
for three different workshops on caring
for your precious items. Bring a brown bag
lunch and join her to learn important tools
and techniques to restore or preserve your
favorite collections. Wednesday’s program
is Caring for your Furniture. Thursday’s
is Caring for your Silver Metalwork,
and Friday’s is Caring for your Textiles.
Guests are welcome to bring a single item
(or photograph) to inquire about its care
and preservation. Each day will focus
on different preservation techniques
with demonstrations and basic cleaning
guidelines. Fee for each workshop is $10 for
SHS members and $20 for nonmembers.

with the Cleveland Seed Bank
Kimberly Lessman of Cleveland Seed Bank
will talk about how to harvest, save, plant,
and share the seeds from your garden.
Seed saving is a growing movement to
increase genetic diversity in our food and
flowers, save money, and build community.
No prior knowledge is needed.

Conserving Nature’s Stage:
Identifying Resilient Landscapes
for a Changing Climate
Bill Stanley, state director of the Nature
Conservancy, and August Froehlich,
Geographic Information System analyst,
will give a presentation on landscapes
across Ohio that are predicted to
withstand the growing impact of climate
change. Scientists believe these resilient
landscapes will continue to serve as stable
habitats to a wide variety of plants and
animals while also providing drinking
water, fertile soil, and other important
natural resources. $10/members,
$15/non-members.
