Tallulah Gorge State Park was the
second stop on Melissa’s adventure.
The 2,689-acre Georgia state park
is adjacent to Tallulah Falls, along
the county line between Rabun
and Habersham Counties. The park
surrounds Tallulah Gorge, a 1,000-foot
deep gorge formed by the action of the
Tallulah River, which runs along the
floor of the gorge. Melissa said she
didn’t hike down to the suspension
bridge because of the large weekend
crowd, but would recommend readers
check it out on a weekday if possible.
Several warning signs are posted at the overlook
for those hoping to hike down to the suspension
bridge. The signs warn of a strenuous trail.
