One of Melissa’s favorite
views while at Black Rock
Mountain State park was
its incredible variety of
wildflowers.
“It had tons of wildflowers,”
she said. “Even in October.
At one point the trail
narrowed to just about eight
inches wide and I was chest
deep in thousands of wispy
little flowers.”
One of the most popular hikes at Black Rome Mountain State Park is the Tennessee Rock Trail. The trail catches stunning
views from the Tennessee Rock overlook and visits the mountain’s shady, tree-covered summit. While the overlook views are
breathtaking, much of the trail explores a gorgeous, high-elevation forest that’s filled with boulders, wildlife and towering trees –
and in spring, a dense carpet of native wildflowers.
“This trail also goes along the Eastern Continental Divide which was a cool discovery as I’ve also ventured to the Continental
Divide in Colorado,” Melissa said.
