Taken in 1956, this photo shows the end of
Broad Street looking across to Southeastern
Mills. You can see the old NC&StL Railway depot
on the left and the little Central of Georgia
Railway depot on the right next to the bridge. The
tracks that crossed Broad Street were owned
by the Central of Georgia Railway and served as
their mainline between Chattanooga and Griffin.
A photo of the 1932 flood on Shorter Avenue
looking toward what is now Floyd Medical
Center and Walgreens. In the distance you
can see the Central of Georgia Railway bridge
that crossed Shorter Avenue. This is the line
that crossed the levee and the Robert Redden
footbridge. The bridge was removed in 1968.
