6. Is an inkjet window required for co-mail and if so, does it have to be in a specific position? What quantities work best for co-mail? This is where we can help make that determination. Normally co-mail pockets are reserved for titles of 10,000 or more. However, there are times that they will accept as few as 5,000 pieces. We will also review you list to determine if co-mail is the right option. Many times larger files, or more regionalized lists, benefit more from directly drop shipping – other times co-mail is the option. For periodicals, anything less than 250,000 normally benefits. 8. Can you run poly bagged mailings on your co-mail machine? Yes. While normally not an issue, it is always best to present a sample to make sure the overhang or other characteristics of the poly are acceptable. Selvage (overhang) is a critical issue and the total length of the excess poly should be less than one inch. 9. How is postage paid for titles within co-mail? Debit CAPS account permit imprint. This is required because there are multiple titles in a pool, and no one wants to be held up waiting to release due to someone else being short on postage funds.  See page 5 on opening a CAPs account. 10.How many extra books will you need sent for spoilage? A min of 300 extra books should be set aside for spoilage. All product left over from the extra material will be scrapped. Below is requested overage chart: 10,000 – 19,999 3.00% 20,000 – 49,999 2.00% 50,000 – 99,999 1.50% 100,000 – 199,999 1.00% 200,000 – 499,999 0.75% Over 499,999 0.50% Drop Ship is the process whereby the Printer (Hess) transports the mail directly to various NDC (national Distribution Centers) and SCF (Sectional Center facilities).
