Anatomy and Physiology—
Muscular and Skeletal Systems Study Kits
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, Indianapolis, IN
Students practice anatomical terminology by correctly following the dissection
instructions. Specific cuts along the medial and transverse planes are made to
obtain highly visual cross-sections. In order to obtain and sketch the correct cross
sections students learn terms such as superior, inferior, anterior, posterior, transverse
and frontal among others. Includes detailed Teacher Notes and student worksheet
with answers.
Complete for 16 student groups. Items that simulate internal organs are recommended

Broken Bones—Flinn STEM
Design Challenge™
By: The Flinn Staff
In this activity, students observe X-rays of femoral fractures in order to determine
what type of break has occurred. Using biomedical engineering tactics, students
design and construct a medical device to repair the break and then perform “surgery”
to repair a model broken femur with their device.
Full-size kits are complete for eight student groups. Small-size kits are complete for
4 student groups. Refill kits contain materials only.

Joint Models—
Demonstration Kit
By: The Flinn Staff
Increase student understanding of how joints move and the sizes and shapes of
the major synovial joints with these creative models. Wooden joint models can be
physically examined and manipulated to see how different joints rotate and allow us to
move. Ball-and-socket, hinge, gliding and pivot joints are all represented. Kit contains
complete instructions with Teacher Notes and reproducible student handouts and
worksheets.

Levers of the Body—
Demonstration Kit
By: The Flinn Staff
A great deal can be learned about the human body when it is analyzed as a simple
machine—a lever. The human body is made up of levers (bones) with applied forces
(muscles) to move body parts. The principles of the various lever types are first
taught using a meter stick lever and then dramatically demonstrated using the armtube
lever. The strongest person in your class will be humbled when a little leverage
is applied to the arm tube. All materials are reusable.
Note: Slotted weights are required and available separately.
