Cobb colleges
field competitive
sports teams

While professional
sports teams tend to
generate more headlines,
Cobb is also a hotbed of
collegiate sports.
Georgia’s third largest
university, with over
35,000 students, is Kennesaw
State University,
which competes in
the ASUN Conference
(formerly known as the
Atlantic Sun Conference)
in the National Collegiate
Athletic Association
for most sports with the
exception of its football
team, which plays in the
Big South Conference.
KSU fields men’s teams
in baseball, basketball,
cross country, football,
golf, tennis and track and
field, as well as women’s
teams in basketball, cross
country, golf, lacrosse,
soccer, softball, tennis,
track and field and volleyball.
The KSU Owls football
team, which began play
in 2015, opened the 2019
season in a familiar position,
landing at No. 10 in
the STATS FCS Preseason
Top 25, where it has been
ranked consecutively
since October 2017.
KSU is also represented
among the top 10 teams
in the nation for the 14th
straight national poll, a
streak that dates back to
the final poll of the 2017
