demanding that there be
more hiking, canoeing
and rafting opportunities
on and around the river.”
The CRNRA is one of
419 National Park Service
units and one of 18
national recreation areas,
reporting 2.873 million
visitors in 2018.
“Which puts us in the
top 40 of the National
Park Service units,” Cox
said, adding that the area
at Kennesaw Mountain
accounts for almost 75%
of the visitation in Georgia.
Data from the National
Park Service shows
spending by the 2.7
million annual visitors to
the CRNRA averages over
$119 million for surrounding
communities,
supporting close to 2,000
local jobs with a cumulative
benefit to the local
economy of around $166
million.
