It’s hard to go anywhere in Cobb
without seeing Hope and Will,
the blue and green mascots of
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
CHOA has Cobb locations
in east Cobb, Smyrna, Marietta,
Kennesaw offering services and
including urgent care, radiology
and lab services, orthotics and
prosthetics, endocrinology, gastroenterology,
general surgery,
orthopedics, sports medicine,
otolaryngology (ENT) and
more.
The medical group is also
active in projects that benefit
children across the community,
and one of the most visible is at
SunTrust Park.
SunTrust Park is home to
‘Hope and Will’s Sandlot,’ a large,
kid-friendly area with amenities
including a batting cage, interactive
games and the first-ever zip
line and climbing tower inside a
professional sporting venue.
Children’s is also Atlanta
United’s official pediatric health
care system.
Children’s was ranked
among the nation’s top pediatric
hospitals for 2019-20 by
U.S. News & World Report’s
Best Children’s Hospitals list.
In a report released by the
publication June 18, Children’s
had five specialties
ranked in the top 10 and an
additional two specialties in
the top 20: No. 5 in the nephrology
and gastroenterology
and GI surgery programs,
No. 6 in the orthopaedics
program, No. 8 in pediatric
cancer (the Aflac Cancer
Center), No. 10 in the urology
program and No. 19 in the pulmonology
and lung surgery and
neurology and neurosurgery
programs.
The report ranks hospitals for
excellence in outcomes, program
structure and national
reputation in 10 pediatric
specialty areas — with the
survey questions created and
refined by content experts in
each field. Children’s ranked
in each of the 10 specialty
areas.
