N COMPANY’S COMIN’
Leslie Jordan
April 2
Emmy-Award winning actor and unlikely
viral sensation Leslie Jordan has announced
his debut album “Company’s Comin’.”
Inspired by his weekly “Sunday Mornin’
Hymn Singin’” live stream, the album finds
Jordan performing southern gospel hymns
with a slew of special guests including Tanya
Tucker, TJ Osborne (Brothers Osborne), Travis
Howard and Katie Pruitt, with more surprise
guests to be announced. The news in late
February coincided with the release of the
album’s first single, “Angel Band” featuring
Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter
Brandi Carlile, and the launch of his Apple
Music Country show “Hunker Down Radio
with Leslie Jordan.”
N IN ANOTHER WORLD
Cheap Trick
April 9
Cheap Trick is set to release their 20th
album, “In Another World.” “Produced by
longtime associate Julian Raymond, ‘In
Another World’ sees Cheap Trick doing
what they do better than anyone – crafting
indelible rock ‘n’ roll with oversized
hooks, mischievous lyrics and seemingly
inexorable energy,” a statement said.
Cheap Trick has performed live more
than 3,700 times and has sold over 20
million albums. The statement noted that
the coronavirus lockdown had forced Cheap
Trick off the “endless highway” for the
longest period of their career and that they
intend to return “as soon as they can.”
Surrounded by Time
N TOM JONES
April 23
Tom Jones has announced his first new
studio album in over five years, “Surrounded
By Time,” recorded during lockdown.
The album includes songs written by Bob
Dylan (“One More Cup of Coffee”) and Cat
Stevens (“Popstar”), as well as a cover of
the Academy Award-winning song, “The
Windmills of Your Mind.” The singing legend
turned 80 last June. In notes on his Facebook
page about the album, Jones wrote, “Last
year, during lockdown and after 5 years of
enormous personal changes, I finally found
the need to express myself again through
my music. So I got into the studio with some
great friends and musicians and created a
new album!”
