OUTLOOK | APRIL 2020 77
Some of the events back in 2007
included a parade of the players down
Broad Street, a concert at the Forum
River Center, and a fanfest event that
took place in front of State Mutual
Stadium prior to the start of the game.
Davis said one of his favorite things
about the All-Star Game was getting to
see different players who didn’t come
to the area often. The Braves play in the
Southern Division of the South Atlantic
League, so Northern Division teams
don’t make their way to Rome as much.
“From the standpoint of the kids that
played in it, it was a big deal for the
community, because they got to see all
these players,” Davis said. “We didn’t
see much of the Northern Division, so
it gave us an opportunity to see players
we wouldn’t see very often, or at all.”
Last year’s All-Star Game took place in
Charleston, West Virginia, and was won
by the Northern Division, 6-2, after a
five-run rally in the bottom of the eighth
inning.
The Braves sent several players to the
game. Rome pitcher Jose Montilla came
on for the Southern Division in the sixth
inning of the game with two outs and
two runners on and was able to get out
of the jam as the next batter grounded
into a force out.
Rome second baseman Greg Cullen
and catcher Logan Brown started the
game for the Southern Division, with
Cullen drawing two walks and both
going 0-1 at the plate.
Outfielder Trey Harris was also
selected to represent Rome in the All-
Star Game but was promoted to High-A
Florida the same day he was picked to
play.
This year’s game will start at 7:30 p.m.,
and advance ticket prices range from $8
to $16, and all ticket prices increase $2
the day of the game.
