Love story from the bride: Harris and I met in Lubbock, Texas during my
senior year of college at Texas Tech University.
We were both working at the university golf
course at the time (he was a cart guy and I was a
cart girl - super cute, I know). After getting to
know each other during our work shifts and bonding over our
love of outdoor adventure, he eventually gave me his number.
I’d never met someone so forward with his intentions and I was
really drawn in by that.
After our first date, we were pretty much inseparable. We
moved in together a year later and made plans to move to
Bozeman, Montana. He had grown up in Georgia and I had
grown up in Texas but we both dreamed of living in a mountain
town. We loved getting to experience a place like no other with
each other. Harris proposed to me during a camping trip in May
of 2018 and we started planning our wedding day soon after.
His parents, residents of Marietta, had recently opened Glover
Park Brewery and we knew right away we wanted to incorporate
the family business into our special day. My family (about 40
family members) traveled from Fort Worth, Texas for the
weekend, along with many other wedding guests who traveled
from all over the country to be with us. Our wedding ceremony
took place at the Historic Oakton Estate on Kennesaw Avenue.
The day was full of emotion and truly felt like the biggest moment
of our lives.
One of my favorite moments was, after exchanging vows and
officially becoming husband and wife, we turned around to face
our family and friends and took a moment to embrace the people
that helped get us to the alter. We chartered a school bus to take
our guests from the Oakton to the brewery for dancing, food, and
plenty of drinks. We served wood-fired pizzas from local food
truck, Dominic’s New York Pizza, and wonderful Southern-style
dishes from Dogwood Catering. The whole day was one to
remember and, as we’re coming up on our 1-year anniversary,
a day we’ve been thinking about a lot lately. We now have made
Marietta our home.
