Novelist’s “appeal” terms, which fall into
broad categories such as tone, character,
storyline, or writing style.
Forgot the title of a book? Novelist
can help find it. Simply enter a brief plot
description or a few key words and Novelist
will return the title and even provide a link
to the CLEVNET catalog, making it easy
to reserve it. In addition, NoveList offers
book discussion guides, thematic book
lists, articles, and much more.
The Library subscribes to two
NoveList databases:
NoveList K-8 Plus helps librarians,
teachers, parents, and other adults who
work with children in grades K-8 find fiction
and nonfiction tailored to their reading
levels and interests. And, kids can try it
themselves to select books they might enjoy.
NoveList Plus helps readers of all
ages find fiction and nonfiction books.
Book Groups
If you’re looking for new reading material
and like talking about what you’ve
read, consider joining a Library book
discussion group. Book groups are a great
way to meet new neighbors, discover a
new genre, and enjoy conversation in a
relaxed atmosphere.
Discussions are led by librarians who
select the books and are trained to ensure
that all members of the group have an
opportunity to contribute. To add depth to
the conversations, they research the backgrounds
of the authors and other information
related to the book.
The Library has a group for every
taste. The Cook the Book! group focuses
on a different cookbook each month and
discusses it at an evening potluck gettogether
at Woods Branch. Readers who
enjoy a brew and burger with their book
discussion can join PubReads, which meets
at the Academy Tavern.
Book Buzz meets on the second
Tuesday of the month in the morning and
the Fourth Tuesday group meets in the
afternoon at Main Library. Both groups
offer opportunities to discuss a variety
of fiction, nonfiction, popular titles, and
classics. Readers are welcome to join in any
or all of the groups, and can participate
every month or just for a discussion on a
particular book.
Award Winners meets every other
month on a Saturday afternoon at Woods
Branch to discuss prize-winning books.
