KICKOFF ‘22 143
Those two teams have faced
off 26 times since 19 89 , with
Pebblebrook currently leading
the series 16 -10. The other three
teams in the region are Carrollton,
East Coweta and Westlake.
Pebblebrook and Campbell have
never faced Carrollton before.
Campbell is 0-6 against Westlake
and 1-8 against East Coweta,
while Pebblebrook is 0-8 against
Westlake and 2-10 against East
Coweta, though the Falcons won
last season’s game 38-21.
Region 7AAAAAA keeps Lassiter,
Pope and Sprayberry together
along with Roswell, John’s Creek,
Blessed Trinity and Alpharetta.
Pope and Lassiter have played
each other 30 times in the last 34
seasons, with Lassiter winning
19 of those matchups. Sprayberry
and Lassiter have faced off 32
times, with Lassiter leading the
series 22-10. Lassiter also has
a high level of familiarity with
Roswell. The two programs have
played 30 times, with Roswell
leading the series 20-10.
South Cobb is the team in the
most unfamiliar territory, as it is
the only team in its region from
Cobb County.
Beyond the challenge of extra
travel, the Eagles have never
faced four of the five teams they
will play from their region, with
the lone exception being 2000
and 2001 matchups with Marist.
South Cobb’s 2022 matchups
with Dunwoody, North Atlanta,
Riverwood and St. Pius X will
all be first-time meetings. How
South Cobb adjusts to its new
opponents will be a big factor in
determining the team’s success
this season.
Similarly to South Cobb, K ell
finds itself in a region with no
other Cobb schools. Though the
Longhorns have slightly more
familiarity with their region
opposition than South Cobb,
they still have only played 16
games all-time against their
six region opponents for the
2022 season.
Region 6 AA has three Cobb
teams listed in North Cobb Christian,
Mount Paran Christian and
Walker. Walker has made the decision
not to play a region schedule
this season, leaving Mount
Paran, North Cobb Christian,
South Atlanta, Therrell, Washinngton,
K IPP Atlanta Collegiate
and B.E.S.T Academy.
Whitefield Academy has been
placed in Region 6 A Division I
and will face region opponents
Mt. Pisgah Christian, Mount V ernon
and St. Francis. The Wolfpack
and the others teams will
all make the playoffs as they are
the only four out of the 10 total
schools in Region 6 A Division I
playing a region schedule.
