you are not going to live for Him.

It had not rained in Israel for threeand
a-half years, so Elijah took his
servant with him to the top of Mount
Carmel; and he prayed. And Elijah...
cast himself down upon the earth,
and put his face between his knees
(I Kings 18:42). Then he told his servant,
Go up now, look toward the
sea. And he went up, and looked,
and said, There is nothing. And he
said, Go again seven times. And it
came to pass at the seventh time,
that he said, Behold, there ariseth
a little cloud out of the sea, like a
man’s hand...And it came to pass...
that the heaven was black with
clouds and wind, and there was a
great rain (I Kings 18:43–45). That
little cloud in the form of a man’s hand
meant that a man had reached the
hand of God. Never give up on God.
Stay Awake in the Lord
Jesus was a great prayer warrior;
and at times, He would stay awake all
night praying. The disciples could not
seem to do that. On the night Jesus
was arrested, He had asked Peter,
James and John to pray with Him; but
when He checked on them, they were
asleep. And he cometh unto the
disciples, and findeth them asleep,
and saith unto Peter, What, could
ye not watch with me one hour
(Matthew 26:40)? The disciples could
not stay awake with Jesus.
Do you stay awake with Jesus, or
do you wait until the end of the day to
pray when you are tired and worn out?
That is no time to try to talk to God
because you will be asleep before you
know it. You may pray a little, sleepy
prayer; but you don’t really mean it.
You are just speaking words, and that
won’t work. When you pray, your heart
must be connected to Heaven; and
you must pray through faith. You have
to mean what you are saying with your
whole self—soul, mind and body.
Jesus always stayed awake in the
presence of His Father, and great things
took place. He prayed at Lazarus’ sepulchre;
and then He said, Take ye
away the stone...And when he thus
had spoken, he cried with a loud
voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he
that was dead came forth, bound
hand and foot with graveclothes:
and his face was bound about with
a napkin. Jesus saith unto them,
Loose him, and let him go (John
11:39,43,44). When Jesus prayed, the
dead were raised; and people were
healed of whatever afflictions they had.
Paul followed the Lord with his
whole heart and became one of the
greatest apostles, and he had the
same power Jesus had. When Paul was
preaching one night, a man fell asleep
and fell from the window where he
was sitting. And there sat in a window
a certain young man named
Eutychus, being fallen into a deep
sleep: and as Paul was long preaching,
he sunk down with sleep, and
fell down from the third loft, and
was taken up dead. And Paul went
down, and fell on him, and embracing
him said, Trouble not yourselves;
for his life is in him. When he therefore
was come up again, and had
broken bread, and eaten, and talked
a long while, even till break of day,
so he departed. And they brought
the young man alive, and were not
a little comforted (Acts 20:9–12). Paul
stayed connected to Heaven, and you
must stay connected too.
Help Win the Lost
In this hour, the value of prayer is
immeasurable; and what we receive
through it is miraculous. Don’t depend
only on other people’s prayers; you
must go before the Lord yourself and
