Feet of Iron or Feet of Clay
People today have feet
of either iron or clay;
which kind do you have?
The Truth Makes the Difference
Paul told us to take unto you the
whole armour of God, that ye may
be able to withstand in the evil
day, and having done all, to stand
(Ephesians 6:13). The evil day Paul
spoke of is now. If you have feet of
iron, you can put on the whole armor of
God and stand. If you have feet of clay,
that armor won’t work for you; and you
will be defeated. So many Christians
today have feet of clay, and they
compromise with people or the world’s
ways instead of standing for the Word
of God.
So what is that armor? Paul goes on
to tell us, Stand therefore, having
your loins girt about with truth,
and having on the breastplate of
righteousness; And your feet shod
with the preparation of the gospel
of peace; Above all, taking the
shield of faith, wherewith ye shall
be able to quench all the fiery darts
of the wicked. And take the helmet
of salvation, and the sword of the
Spirit, which is the word of God
(Ephesians 6:14–17).
Let’s examine this armor. You first
The book of Daniel
tells an account of the
king of Persia. He had had a
dream, and he wanted to know
the meaning of it; but he couldn’t
remember it. Daniel was a dedicated
servant of the Lord; and through God,
he was the only one in the kingdom
who was able not only to tell the king
his dream but also to tell him the
meaning of the dream.
Daniel told the king he had seen a
huge image. Each part of that image
was made of a different type of metal
except the feet—they were made of
both iron and clay. Each body part
and its metal represented different
kingdoms which have now come and
gone. Because the feet were made of
both iron and clay, they represented a
divided kingdom as explained in Daniel:
And as the toes of the feet were
part of iron, and part of clay, so the
kingdom shall be partly strong, and
partly broken. And whereas thou
sawest iron mixed with miry clay,
they shall mingle themselves with
the seed of men: but they shall
not cleave one to another, even as
iron is not mixed with clay (Daniel
2:42,43). That divided kingdom is still
in the making today.
Iron is very strong, and clay is very
weak; and the two of them won’t mix.
