about our house, and there was
something in the man’s voice that
made her ask what church he went
to. Cathy normally would not ask such
a question, but she felt a connection
with that man; and I’m sure it was the
anointing in his life.
Well, there was a pause after Cathy
asked that question, and the man
said, “I go to Grace Cathedral.” Cathy
quickly responded back, “So do I”;
and I’m sure the man was relieved to
hear that. He probably didn’t know
what direction the conversation was
going to go; but after that, they had a
connection.
The man and his wife ended up
renting from us, and they were the
best tenants we ever had. God was
showing us His power and greatness,
proving His Word and making Himself
real even when I was a sinner. He was
letting me know that I couldn’t rely on
my own thoughts and opinions because
only He knows all and sees all. I was
used to looking at man and his outward
appearance to make my decisions, but
God looks on the heart.
The first man I had talked to
thought he had everything covered
up and that no one would find out he
was being evicted; but I’m thankful
that God uncovers people, especially
to Christians. If you are a child of God,
you must learn to rely on God and
His direction. He can protect you from
making the wrong decisions.
Examine Your Heart
The prophet Samuel learned about
waiting for God’s direction when
God sent him to the house of Jesse
to anoint one of his sons to become
the next king. When Samuel looked
upon Eliab, the elder son, he thought
surely God’s anointed was before
him; but the Lord said to Samuel,
Look not on his countenance,
or on the height of his stature;
because I have refused him: for
the LORD seeth not as man seeth;
for man looketh on the outward
appearance, but the LORD
looketh on the heart (I Samuel
16:7).
If there is something in your heart
that is not right, God will see it even
if man doesn’t. You may think you can
get away with your sins, but always
remember that God sees all and
knows all; and eventually, your sins
will find you out. He that covereth
his sins shall not prosper: but
whoso confesseth and forsaketh
them shall have mercy (Proverbs
28:13). God knows your heart; and
if you are a hypocrite, you will be
uncovered. You are hurting yourself,
and you are preventing God’s
blessings from flowing to you.
Examine your heart right now and
let the Holy Spirit show you if you are
hiding any secret sins. Are you doing
anything you know the Lord wouldn’t
be pleased with? The devil is working
overtime to get you to become
complacent with the Lord and ease up
on your dedication to Him.
Be a Living Sacrifice
You can’t conform to this world
at any time. You have to be more
diligent in your walk with the Lord
now than ever before because it is a
dangerous hour. Are you holding back
and doing things in secret that God
wouldn’t approve of? The Bible says,
I the LORD search the heart, I
try the reins, even to give every
man according to his ways, and
according to the fruit of his doings
(Jeremiah 17:10). You may be able
to hide the true you from people, but
you can’t hide it from God.
