against thee out of thine own
house, and I will take thy wives
before thine eyes, and give them
unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie
with thy wives in the sight of this
sun. For thou didst it secretly: but
I will do this thing before all Israel,
and before the sun (II Samuel
12:10–12).
God sees everything.
King David thought he could hide
his sins from God and from man, but
he could not. In fact, the whole world
can now read about his hidden sins in
the Bible. If the Lord were to publish
your life in the Bible, how would it
read? Is there anything in it that would
embarrass you?
Some people have a diary, and
they keep it under lock and key. They
don’t want anyone to read what they
write because it includes their private
thoughts, but there is no lock that can
keep God from knowing what is in your
heart and mind. Your life should be an
open book to the world that reads like a
Bible. It should be full of truth, and the
Jesus light must shine through it.
Seek God’s Direction
Integrity and moral goodness are
fading away in this world, and you have
to be so careful of the people you put
your trust in. God wants to protect His
children from evildoers, and that is why
it is important that you seek God for
His divine direction in every decision
you make. God can uncover times when
someone is trying to deceive you.
Before I became a Christian, my
wife, Cathy, and I were looking for
tenants to rent our house. I had started
a business in another part of Ohio,
but we didn’t want to sell our house
because we had only owned it for a
few years. At that time, Cathy had just
started going to Grace Cathedral; and
she had given her life to the Lord.
When we began interviewing people
as potential renters, it seemed like our
choices were very limited. Then one
day, I met a man who was dressed
very professionally and spoke very
well. He was single with no kids and no
pets, and he wanted to rent from us. I
was excited because he seemed to be
exactly what we were looking for in a
tenant.
I talked to Cathy, and she was not
sure about that man; so she said she
was going to pray for God to show us
if this was the right person or not. I
couldn’t understand why she wasn’t
as excited about the man as I was,
and she told me appearances can be
deceiving; and God knows more than
what we can see.
God Answers Sincere Prayers
As Cathy prayed for God’s divine
direction, He gave us the thought to
check out the place where the man had
stated on his application that he was
currently living. When I drove by, I saw
a very nice home. There was a sign out
front, so I decided to call the phone
number listed on it.
The homeowner answered; and
when I asked about the man who
wanted to rent my home, I was told
he was being evicted. I was shocked.
I couldn’t believe I was on the verge
of renting to someone who was in the
process of being evicted. I was learning
that it pays to look to God for divine
direction because He can see what we
can’t see.
Of course, that man was no longer
an option, but we still had to get a
tenant. Cathy received a phone call
from someone else who was inquiring
