Repair Classes
Learn how to do-it-yourself (or what you should know if you’re
hiring someone). Many classes are free and Shaker residents
receive a 25 percent discount on classes with a fee. To view and

With a small membership fee, you can borrow tools to get the job

City Grant Programs
The City funds a series of grant programs to help eligible
residents maintain their homes. Grants don’t need to be paid
back; programs are administered by the Home Repair Resource
Center. Grants include:
• Exterior Maintenance Grant: Up to $2,500 to correct exterior
violations cited by the City’s Housing Inspection Department.
• Senior Emergency Safety Grant: Up to $500 to address health
and/or safety hazards for homeowners who are permanently
disabled and or age 62 and older.
• Free Paint: Free exterior paint to correct paint violations cited
by the Housing Inspection Department.

Low-Interest Loan Programs
Low-interest loans for home repairs and renovations are
available from several local organizations, including the
