City Hires New
C&M Director
The City has appointed Ann McGuire as
its new director of Communications and
Marketing. Her term began on May 31.
McGuire brings more than 25 years
of experience to the job. She was most
recently director of Marketing and
Communications for Ursuline College
in Pepper Pike. She also served in the
same position at the Cleveland Institute
of Art and as communications manager
for University Hospitals. She has worked
locally as a freelance writer, including for
Shaker Life and the Shaker Heights City
School District.
“We are pleased to welcome Ann to
the City to oversee our communications
and marketing department,” says Mayor
David Weiss. “She not only brings a
wealth of experience to the job, but has a
strong understanding of – and passion for
– our community.”
McGuire is a former longtime
resident of Shaker Heights. She and her
husband, Patrick Leahy, raised their
children in the Lomond neighborhood.
They retain strong ties to the community,
including as members of the Church of
St. Dominic.
McGuire holds a Bachelor of Science
degree from the University of Maine. SL
