Spring is us,
WHICH MEANS SPRING BREAK, WARMER WEATHER
(ONE CAN HOPE), BLOOMS AND THE BEST OF COBB.
When I first came aboard the Cobb Life team in 2021, the
Marietta Daily Journal was preparing to relaunch the Best of
Cobb event after being on a hiatus due to the pandemic. There, I
was welcomed with open arms by the Cobb community and learned how
significant the Best of Cobb Contest was for businesses in the area. Which is
why I’m excited to kick o my Best of Cobb issue today.
What makes the Best of Cobb a contest unlike the rest? All nominations,
votes and winners are selected by the readers of Cobb Life Magazine and
the Marietta Daily Journal. Winners aren’t selected based on advertising
revenue or popularity among the sta members of the paper. In fact, a third
party organization is hired each year to receive the nominations and final
votes to ensure the integrity of the contest. A huge thank you is in order to
all the individuals who cast more than 400,000 votes this year. This contest
is for the people, by the people.
Curious to know who received the most overall votes from the contest?
Check out our story on page 10 about the top five vote-getters from this
year.
While we certainly have some repeat winners (who can deny the best, after
all?), there are many new faces and companies who have joined our winners
this year. I hope you’ll take a chance to read about a select few winners we
have chosen to highlight in feature stories this issue: 1885-Grill Acworth, Two
Birds Taphouse, Three-13 Salon and Marietta Antique Mall. When drafting
ideas for this year’s issue, I knew I wanted to give readers a better look at
some of the top winners among our most popular categories. A few of these
winners garnered the most awards out of any business in their section. Some
have been staples of the community for years while others are new members
of Cobb.
Be sure to check out the latest in April releases, noteworthy news from
around Cobb, familiar faces in Cobb Scene and our Now & Then photo
segment after you’ve read about our winners.
Lastly, I hope you’ll join us in our celebratory Best of Cobb event on
March 24 in collaboration with the Georgia Food & Wine Festival at the Jim
R. Miller Event Center. Tickets can be purchased at www.mdjonline.com/
cobblife/bestof. We’re sure to have a wonderful group of vendors from our
winners list, with great food, drinks and plenty of giveaways on a nice spring
afternoon. See you there!
