pandemic, even as unexpected times have occurred like a
weeklong closure between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Anderson said that one of the reasons the sta has stuck
around and worked together so well is the leadership of the
Byrds, who are visible in the restaurant daily and who take a
dierent approach than management at a lot of restaurants.
“The Byrds hadn’t opened a restaurant before,” Anderson
said, noting that this allowed them to lead dierently from
corporate or traditional owners in their philosophy and problemsolving
techniques.
“They are people-people before restaurant-people,”
Anderson said.
Rachel Byrd said that federal COVID-related grants have
helped keep the bar open and successful.
Despite the pandemic, Two Birds has been able to grow
throughout the years in Marietta. In 2018, just two years after
opening, Two Birds expanded with a larger space that included
a wood-fired pizza oven that both expanded the menu and the
overall Two Birds experience.
“We try really hard to have good service,” Rachel Byrd said.
“We want our sta to be happy and our customers to be happy.
… we want to stay current and have something new for
customers to try.”
Along with special events and dining, Two Birds can also be
rented out as an event venue for everything from weddings and
receptions to birthday parties with three dierent-sized areas
available for private events.
All of the awards are a sign to Je Byrd that they are
meeting the goals they had when they opened Two Birds.
“We wanted to create a place that people enjoy coming to,”
Je Byrd said. “I think we’ve been successful.”
