Whether you agree with the moniker “Cobb’s downtown,”
there’s no denying The Battery Atlanta, the mixed-use development
beside the Atlanta Braves’ Cumberland stadium, is
one of the county’s premier destinations.
The $900 million, 57-acre complex boasts some of Cobb’s
best shopping and dining experiences, with outposts of
well-known brands and metro Atlanta restaurants, as well as
apartments, office buildings, hotel suites and the Coca-Cola
Roxy concert hall.
76 FACTBOOK | 2022
At an event hosted by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce in
September 2020, Chamber Chairman John Loud listed a couple
of numbers about the Battery, which features:
♦ 840,000 square feet of office space
♦ 500,000 square feet of residential space
♦ 320,000 square feet of hotel space
♦ 250,000 square feet of retail and dining space and
♦ 103,000 square feet dedicated to entertainment.
It’s a lot. And yet, as Braves Development Company CEO
Mike Plant told the Kennesaw Business Association in June,
“it’s quickly changing.”
Most prominent among new or incoming additions to the
area is the 420-foot tower being built by TK Elevator. TK
Elevator is the new name of the Thyssenkrupp conglomerate’s
elevator division, which was sold to a private equity consortium
in July 2020 and is in the midst of a rebrand.
The tower — already the tallest building in Cobb County —
will be the centerpiece of TK Elevator’s new, North American
headquarters.
The tower will house 18 elevator shafts to test and develop
new products. The entire development brings 900 jobs and a
nearly $300 million investment to Cobb County.
For the general public, the tower will feature an observation
area and event space. Passersby should also be able to see the
inner workings of elevators, shafts and their components from
the outside of the building.
Originally scheduled for completion in the summer of 2021,
