The shift to work-from-home has also boosted home sales,
especially in the suburban communities that dominate in
Cobb; white collar workers want more space, said Lisa Scott,
of RE/MAX Around Atlanta. And they want more than just a
home office.
“They are homeschooling, exercising, working from home,”
Scott said. “They want to be outside.”
That isn’t to say that the housing market in any one area
within metro Atlanta is doing much better than any other.
Despite the desire for space, homes in the city of Atlanta are also
selling fast.
“Spectacular,” Sinclair said in April when asked about the
metro Atlanta market. “The vast majority of houses, if you
list the house correctly, your house is going to sell for over
asking price.”
Porter agrees.
“I think there might be some little pockets that are a little bit
better than others, but everything is selling so fast that there’s no
place that’s doing poorly,” Porter said. “For instance, Mableton’s
hot right now. And flippers are coming in and buying houses.”
Meanwhile, with tax credits fueling Georgia’s rise as a
center of the American film industry, some of Cobb’s homes
have ties to the silver screen.
Those who wanted to own a slice of “Karate Kid” history
had an opportunity this year, when six-bedroom, sixbathroom,
9,000-foot east Cobb mansion that plays host to
the series’ modern-day reboot, “Cobra Kai,” hit the market
for $2.6 million.
“Known by millions as the LaRusso Mansion from Netflix’s
smash hit, ‘Cobra Kai,’ Villa Flora offers an unparalleled lifestyle
right in the heart of East Cobb,” the listing reads. “If these
walls could talk, they’d speak of countless parties lined with
notable guests throughout history. From two sitting former U.S.
presidents to legendary golfer Arnold Palmer, the estate offers
the next owner the opportunity to own a piece of history.”
And in January, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson placed his
eight bedroom, 15,000-square-foot Powder Springs “equestrian
estate” on the market for $7.5 million.

In March, 1,160 homes were sold in Cobb at a median price of
$347,900, spending only 23 days on the market,
according to data from RE/MAX Around Atlanta.
