What does $9 million get you in Cobb County?
Two acres in one of the county’s most exclusive communities;
a “golf simulator area”; a massage room with a sauna and steam
room; and — perhaps this was to be expected — a half-dozen
bedrooms, one of which sports a “sitting room,” with “views from
every angle.”
This 17,000-square-foot mansion was the most expensive house
in Cobb County mid-August. And, like other properties in that
vaunted group, it offers all the amenities one might hope for in a
luxury home — and then some.
Located off Pine Valley Road in east Cobb, the house is
surrounded on three sides by the Atlanta Country Club golf course.
According to listing agent Glennda Baker, the Atlanta Country
Club was built for top-level IBM executives, with mid-tier
executives in the nearby Indian Hills Country Club.
“It’s the most prestigious neighborhood in Cobb,” Baker said.
And the house, she added, is unlike anything else in the
neighborhood.
Visitors are greeted by a circular driveway and double mahogany
doors. Inside, they’ll find a formal living area with a groined vault
ceiling — check out the Santa Maria dei Carmini in Venice if you’re
unfamiliar with that term — and a limestone fireplace.
A curved staircase leads to the upper level, with four guest suites
— each with their own bathroom – and a gathering room with a
balcony overlooking the back yard and golf course.
A terrace level, meanwhile, features a wine cellar, tasting room,
media room, second kitchen, card room, massage room, guest suite
exercise room and that golf simulator area.
The current owner loves to watch TV, Baker said, but hates the
way they look. So the house’s 19 TVs are all hidden, either in the
ceiling or behind a work of art, revealing themselves at the push
of a button.
The main kitchen, designed for “the most discriminating chef,”
features premium appliances and stone counters. The listing touts
the “seamless flow” from the kitchen to the bar, from the bar to
the eating area, from the eating area to the family room “accented
by french doors leading to the covered and electronically screened
veranda.” Of course, this being a house for a gourmand, the
veranda features its own outdoor kitchen.
Outside, a “backyard oasis” awaits, with a swimming pool/hot
tub combo, a fire-pit sitting area overlooking the fairway.
Above the four-car garage is an apartment with a living room,
kitchen, eating area and bedroom.
The house was built in 2014, “so the craftsmanship and
artisanship of this house are unmatched,” Baker said. She is
particularly impressed with the insulating. With four sides of stone
and a well-insulated roof, the home is completely soundproof.
“I’ve sold thousands of houses in my career, I’ve never seen
anything like the construction of this property,” she said.
The house is being sold fully furnished. Taxes in 2020 came out
to $28,000 per year.
