Whether it’s a long and
winding path you’re after,
or a straight shot to the
Alabama line, Cobb boasts
dozens upon dozens of
miles of paved, mountain,
and multi-use trails in every
corner of the county.
Here are some of the best
trails the county has to
offer:
Silver Comet Trail
The Silver Comet Trail,
which starts in Smyrna, is
likely the county’s bestknown
trail at 61.6 miles,
12.8 of which are in Cobb.
The trail, built along an
abandoned railroad line,
stretches through Cobb,
Paulding and Polk counties
to the Georgia-Alabama
state line. There, it
connects with another long
trail, 33-mile long Chief
Ladiga Trail.
The Silver Comet is
fully-paved and excellent
for walking, biking, and
running. As a bonus, it’s
almost totally flat in the
Cobb portion, stretching
through forests and across
creek beds.
In Cobb, the trail can
be accessed at Mavell
Road (the east end of the
trail,) Fontaine Road and
Concord Road in Smyrna,
Floyd Road in Mableton,
and Carter Road, Richard
D. Sailors Parkway and
Florence Road in Powder
Springs. To the east, a
connector trail links
the Silver Comet to the
Cumberland and Mountain
to River trails.
Cumberland Trail Network
Among Cobb’s newer
trails is the Cumberland
Multi-Modal Path —
multi-modal here meaning
the variety of activities
it supports including
