University Cancer & Blood Center: Rewriting
the cancer story since 1981 SPECIAL A new cancer is diagnosed in the United
States every 30 seconds, and 80 percent of
those cancers are found in Americans aged
55 and over. All of us have a cancer story,
whether it’s our own or someone close to
us – and each is unique in its own way. The
one constant in each of those stories? The
importance of community and the people
dedicated to caring for you.
For 40 years, University Cancer & Blood
Center has been serving the oncology and
hematology needs of patients in Athens,
Northeast Georgia, and beyond. And for
that long, the physicians and staff at UCBC
have been committed to the best possible
outcome for every patient who walks
through the doors at all nine of our locations.
This cancer center is one of the most
prolific cancer treatment facilities in the
state, and our team is intent on consistently
providing the highest level of care possible,
while also being increasingly focused on a
deeper, more holistic approach to address
the broader needs of patients and their
families. This approach includes social
support services, nutrition counseling,
transportation, in-house pharmacy, and
palliative care.
With our world-class team, innovative
clinical trials, and cutting-edge treatments
like Molecular Testing, Genetic Counseling,
40 years working to break down the single
story of cancer to rewrite a story focused
on specialized treatment plans for each of
our patients, their families, and their needs.
The future of cancer is a story we must
write together -- one with an ending that
embraces our unique differences and the
importance of true healing. Thank you,
