of his favorite spaces in the house. The
amount of millwork and molding that
went into the two-story space is further
enriched by the rounded shape of the bay.
“It took a lot of extra effort to get it right,
but it turned it into a stunning space.”
The custom staircase in the entryway is
another of the home’s many “wow factors.”
Atlanta-based interior designer Susan
Bozeman worked with Jones to create
this detailed space that sets the tone for
the entire home. “It’s so important, when
you walk in the door, to have that ‘wow
factor,’ and this staircase definitely stands
up to the challenge,” says Bozeman.
She balanced the staircase with art
selected for scale – a grouping of dried
botanicals along the stairwell and a large,
framed piece of vintage wallpaper across
from it. The piece features birds and
tones of blue – something Bozeman
based on the homeowner’s taste.
“The homeowner’s favorite color is
blue, so of course, you will see that as
a recurring color palette throughout
the house,” says Bozeman. She used
fresh blues in most spaces, in carpeting,
wallpaper, and fabrics. She even created
custom metal side pieces for the kitchen’s
bright blue range to create a dramatic
focal point for the space.
“We wanted to keep it fresh,” says Bozeman.
“We custom colored the fabric on
the window treatments in the kitchen to
incorporate the blue from the range and
to marry in the colors that are coming off
of the living room nearby.”
Softer blues bathe the master bedroom
with wallpaper and wood creating a cottage
like retreat. The dressing area, filled
with natural light from the cupola above,
opens to an elegant master bath with
Venetian plaster walls and a stand-alone
tub with silver finish.
“I think the beauty of this house is that
it’s going to look good 50 years from
now,” says Jones.
Bozeman agrees. “We wanted it to be
timeless,” she says, “and user-friendly. It’s
a family house. That’s why the homeowners
built it, so children and grandchildren
can come and enjoy it together.”
“It’s about creating memories for years
to come,” adds Jones.
