A mix of Pecky cypress and
Tennessee fieldstone bring
natural comfort to this home,
constructed by Artisan Built and decorated
by Oconee Interiors.
The large nine-foot steel entry doors
open into a bright, open floor plan, accented
by light cypress in a ceiling detail
above and wide plank wood floors
below. The main living space boasts large exposed
beams and a fieldstone accent wall leading to the
kitchen and dining areas.
The organic feel to the entry is further punctuated
by a large statement piece hanging in the
stairwell – two large Pecky cypress logs, cut and
book-matched to create an art piece.
Bryan Combs of Artisan Built said the homeowner
went in search of old wood to match the
feel of the space and found this piece in Louisiana,
culled from a sunken log on a riverbed, dating
back 2,300 years.
The cypress serves as a cohesive element, carried
throughout the home by the vent hood in the
kitchen and the cabinetry downstairs at the wine
bar.
The terrace level opens to a pool with a spa integrated
into the porch. “I love the compactness of
this,” says Combs. “It’s not a sprawling backyard,
just an intimate area with useable space.”
