“I invested every dime I made
right back into it,” he said.
That May, he was able to hire his
first employee and by May 2015,
Martin said he was doing $30,000 a
month in sales.
He opened his first brick-andmortar
shop off Whitlock Avenue in
November of 2016, where he was
able to hire more staff, get better
equipment, set up a storefront and
have more space to make the goods.
At the time, Martin said he was
traveling a lot, selling his work at
shows, but decided to shift his focus to the digital
space to spend more time with his family and create
an easier business operation.
“I’d say, like, 97% of our sales are online. It’s
crazy. But we put a ton of money into marketing. We
had our biggest year yet during the pandemic
because we were focusing on online sales way
before that. By the end of 2019, we were probably at
60 percent online and 40 percent retail and shows.
But I was done with shows, they’re exhausting. So I
had to figure it out,” he said.
