taking positive advantage
of the additional jobs and
investment.

bat. Other members of
the East Bend Team are
already strong hitters,
as measured by the long
lines of cars waiting for
meals at Chipotle, Texas
Roadhouse, Panda Express
and McAlister’s.

Turner McCall Boulevard:

Another team is warming
up along another river.
The city owned parcel in
the River District is under
consideration by the City
of Rome with two active
bidders both with local and
out of town investors.
City Manager Sammy
Rich and the Commission
are reviewing and rating
proposals and anticipate a
decision in the first quarter
of 2021. Each proposal
is planning mixed use
developments with retail,
residential and restaurants.
The city ownership is
good leverage for quality
architecture, compatible
and complementary uses.
The ideal use is the goal
of this valuable twoacre
tract, thanks to its
location across the bridge
to Downtown, next to the
Courtyard by Marriott and
River City Bank and near
the community’s largest
employer Floyd Medical
Center.
Every block is being
renovated, restored, (or
planned) and new buildings
– Bluem Home & Garden
Store and Cabell’s Designs
are good examples of
renewal and variety in the
District. The $600,000
infrastructure grant via
the Georgia Department of
Community Affairs and the
SPLOST funded $2 million
improvements will make a
fundamental and cosmetic
difference.
West Rome and the North
Broad Corridors are being
discussed for TAD program
incentives. Rev. Terri
Mayes’ led North Broad
Youth Center is adding
amenities through SPLOST
recreation funds.
The South Rome
Redevelopment Corporation
has been rebranded as
the South Rome Alliance.
Chair Brent Bell noted the
name is more aligned with
its mission of housing,
education, health care and
commercial development.
