Cobb County is
open for business
BUSINESS One year ago, this publication
FORECAST 2021 13
announced, “Business is
booming in Cobb County.”
Indeed, it was.
At the outset of 2020,
unemployment reached
historic lows—2.3% in
Cobb County—and all signs
pointed to steady, healthy
growth throughout the year.
Then, of course, those plans
went out the window.
But in spite of facing
some of the toughest
economic challenges since
the financial crisis of 2008,
Cobb’s business community
soldiered on through an
extraordinary year and is
poised to tackle bold new
projects in 2021.
One of the largest business
moves in the last year came
just a few months ago, when
multinational pizza giant
Papa John’s announced it
would move its corporate
headquarters to Cobb
County. The company’s
new location at The Battery
Atlanta, alongside Comcast
and Thyssenkrupp, will
be home to at least 160
employees.
The move speaks to
Cobb’s continuing appeal for
some of the largest and most
