What do you do in your role? In a nutshell, I oversee the general
operations of our agency and staff, collaborate with our Board of Directors
and work to ensure the success of our organization and those we serve.
With that said, every single day looks different. The most important part of
my role is to set a clear vision for CFR and provide our staff with the tools
they need to carry out our mission successfully. That is the glamorous part
of my job. The not so glamorous part includes signing a lot of paperwork
and ensuring we have proper soap and toilet paper in our restrooms!
What drives you to be successful? My family. I was raised by a
single mother who worked harder than anyone I know. She set the example
and I can only hope to accomplish what she was able to. Throughout my life
she taught me that you do things because they are right, not because they
are easy. Sometimes right is hard but it is always worth it. I was also a
single mom for several years and overcame many obstacles. I want my
children understand that nothing is promised, nothing is guaranteed and to
never underestimate the power of hard work and determination.
I also learned many years ago that it is very important for me to engage in
work that I am passionate about. My passion for community and work that
improves the lives of others keeps me focused and driven.
